Brooklyn-based duo The Formalist introduces their latest single, “Finite,” a soft and somber composition that delves into the depths of human existence. Following the success of their ambient track “Happenstance,” “Finite” emerges as a deeply personal exploration of loss, memory, and the yearning for connection.

Contemplating the creation of “Finite”, Laroi & Krieger share, “We think ‘Finite’ is in some ways the most personal or intimate song on the album. We were first writing it during that period of time in New York in early Covid, when people were worried about what could happen. It was a fragile time, and it was like everyone in New York felt like they were at risk of losing people, or had lost someone.”

Erik Laroi’s evocative vocals lead the listener through a solemn sonic experience, capturing the fragility of life and the enduring power of human connection. The richly layered electronic instrumentation and raw, emotive vocals showcase The Formalist’s ability to transform complex emotions into captivating soundscapes, making “Finite” a poignant reflection on the transient nature of existence.
