Hope DeLuca is a 20-year-old singer-songwriter/producer currently based in Boston, Massachusetts. She recently released her new single, Words I Choose. It includes decently arranged guitar melodies that spring around alt-pop production. For me, the vocals are particularly noteworthy because of Deluca’s peculiar intonation. During the chorus, you can drift off into your thoughts.
This song is about DeLuca leaving the city where she was raised (and the people who lived there) so that she could pursue a music career. It’s stuffed with her regrets, what-if’s, and longings for a life she almost had. The lyrics were written from the heart, and their honesty is just uncommon. More artists should express their emotions so openly.
