Lili-Voilet produces raw and gritty indie rock

Melbourne artist Lili-Violet gets personal as she unpacks the complexity of queer relationships, iternalised bi-phobia and personal growth in a bundle to raw, powerful indie rock.

Writing from the heart in all of her songs, Lili-Violet covers topics of sexuality, identity and disability. On new single ‘Blue’ it offers a candid exploration of fast-paced queer relationships, touching on issues like love bombing, ghosting, gaslighting, and control.

Released on IDAHOBIT (A significant day for people in the LGBTQIA+ community as it is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia for 2024), ‘Blue’ ultimately serves as a ‘thanks, but no thanks’ to Lili-Violet’s past partners who mishandled her heart but also influenced her to navigate her inner demons while fighting the external at the same time. With its powerful melodies and poignant storytelling, the track resonates with listeners on a journey to self-discovery and healing.

“‘Blue’ is the kind of song that I get excited to play live,” says Lili-Viloet. “The audience call and response, the eagerness for this song’s release, and the music video, I’ve been so fortunate to work with some amazing people to make my dream of this song come true.

“I felt so broken down after some of the relationships I had over the past few years. Some of the issues were my fault don’t get me wrong, but I also found a pattern in the people I was dating and I was tired of letting people hurt me and impact my self-worth.”

The single is the last release before debut EP ‘Dear Lilith’ is released next month (July 2024). Co-wrote and produced with Jarred Young (Bad Pony, ChompChomp Records), Dear Lilith serves as a love letter to the songwriter who touches on topics such as childhood trauma, mental illness and a search for herself.

Lili-Violet is a brand new artist bursting with energy and grit. Now onto her fifth single and forthcoming EP, she is a powerful indie rock artist ready to make her mark on the world. Check out ‘Blue’ below.
