Introducing Germany’s Guča Meets Wacken, with Punk Cover of “Lola” (Debut Release)

German band, Guča Meets Wacken, has gifted the world a new version of the 1970 hit “Lola” with their 2025 cover. It’s raw. It’s gritty. It’s punk. It’s even ska! It sounds more like a retro version of punk, too, which is refreshing to hear these days.

“Lola” is one of my favorite classic rock era songs. Not just because of its transgender positive lyrical content but also because of its psychedelic qualities that allow me as a listener to really get lost in the music.

Usually, we hear the song in that laid back, psychedelic rock fashion from The Kinks, which I totally love and will always love. But hearing the classic song in a more punk rock way honestly packs quite the punch.

Guča Meets Wacken has an authentic sound that feels intimate and personal. It feels like they are playing live in the room with the listener, giving a classic experience that is a rarity in the modern music industry of autotune and quantizing midi.
