To mark the tenth anniversary of their acclaimed sophomore album, ‘Everybody Is Going To Heaven,’ Citizen has announced a special deluxe reissue. This celebratory edition is set to be released on June 27th via Run For Cover Records, offering fans a fresh look at a pivotal moment in the band’s career.
‘Everybody Is Going To Heaven’ represented a significant shift for Citizen. Following the breakout success of their debut, ‘Youth,’ the band chose to embark on a more experimental path, embracing darker textures and heavier moods. This reissue not only honours the album’s landmark status but also re-contextualises its place within their continuously evolving discography. It’s loaded with bonus material, including the previously unreleased rarity “Nail In Your Hand” – now available on streaming for the first time – along with a new version of “Heaviside” reimagined by Wisp, and various demos from the album’s original creation.
As they celebrate this milestone, Citizen demonstrate a deep commitment to artistic growth, consistently refusing to be confined to one sound or era. ‘Everybody Is Going To Heaven’ didn’t just define where they were at that moment; it effectively illuminated the path for all their subsequent musical explorations and releases, showcasing their fearless approach to songwriting and genre.
Fans will have opportunities to celebrate with the band live this year. Citizen are confirmed to perform at Riot Fest and Furnace Fest. Additionally, they will commemorate ‘Everybody Is Going To Heaven’ with a one-night-only album playthrough show in Detroit, promising an immersive experience for long-time supporters.
