Ready For a Trip? Elevated Focusion has Mind Games for You

If you’re into experimental psychedelic music that actually takes you somewhere, you need to dive into Elevated Focusion’s newest LP, Mind Games. Right away, it pulls you in. This is a mind game and Elevated Focusion knows exactly what they are doing.

The opening track, “Acid Moon,” hits with otherworldly production. Riffing electric guitars crash in alongside world-style vocals and birds chirping, building something that feels strange and alive. Then a synth cuts through the track. At first it’s subtle, almost lurking, then it gets louder and more aggressive until everything shifts. A beat drops that you can actually move to, and the vocals start circling a melody that sticks in your head. The synths stay really heavy until electric guitars find their way back to the track and bring their edge back to the music. It truly feels like a night you don’t want to end. Dancing under an acid moon with your closest friends, sweaty, a little unhinged, completely locked in. Freedom…

“Toys in the Static” leans fully into electronic territory and doesn’t hold back. The synth cuts straight through you, sharp and immersive, the kind of sound that doesn’t just sit in the background but takes over. The vocals come in smooth and soulful, gliding over the perfect chaos and locking in with the synths. Lyrically, it takes aim at the pressure of society, the expectations that push you to the edge, all the ways you twist yourself just to keep up when what you really want is freedom. It taps into that feeling of being trapped in the material world, constantly pulled in every direction. This track doesn’t offer an escape so much as it throws you into it. It pulls you into the static, into the noise, into the moment, until everything else fades out. This song brings on the feeling of freedom.

The record jumps between sounds, and “Trash” is one of the hardest pivots. This track hits with a heavy industrial edge. Distorted electric guitars growl through the mix, backed by a blend of live drums and electronic hits. It’s danceable, but it’s rooted in grunge, punk, and industrial chaos. The vocals are unhinged in the best way. Screamed, roared, raw with grit. A male and female vocalist trade verses, sometimes colliding and singing over each other, which only adds to the intensity. This is Elevated Focusion at their darkest, and it pulls you all the way in. Lyrically, it leans into being lost, owning it, and turning that into something freeing instead of something to be ashamed of.

The next track, “The Wind Whispers Into Insanity,” is totally experimental and leans poppy. We’re moving out of the industrial world and into a more psychedelic, pop-focused space. This song is super trippy with its synths and drum grooves, centered on the struggle of questioning and deciphering reality. It captures that specific paranoia of feeling like Earth’s elements are watching you, with lyrics like, “Insanity whispers and the wind knows my name.” Expect to hear a really cool drum beat paired with a low growl lurking underneath the shimmering vocals.

The last track that Rock the Pigeon wants to highlight is “Paradox.” Immediately we hear synths, world instruments, and a beat that is highly danacebale. This is a club beat with an experimental edge to it, making it a sure standout. It’s a super cool fusion of genres that isn’t expected but works so well together. The band explains this as “a spiritual wild dance party” and it definitely is 100% that. Dig into Elevated Focusion’s new record. You definitely will have an amazing trip.
