London’s art-punk provocateurs Man/Woman/Chainsaw have officially announced their highly anticipated debut album, Cannonball, set to arrive on August 7th via Fiction Records. Joining a storied label roster that includes icons like The Cure and St. Vincent, the band is marking the occasion with the release of their ambitious new single, “Nosedive.” A sprawling, six-minute, synth-led odyssey, the track showcases a massive leap in scope from their early EP work, drawing as much from the propulsive, rhythmic dance-punk of LCD Soundsystem as it does from the raw, guitar-driven underground scene that first championed them.

Recorded at the legendary RAK Studios with producers Seth Evans (Geordie Greep) and Margo Broom (Fat White Family), Cannonball promises a “clean, grandiose sound” that captures the frenetic energy of early adulthood. ‘Nosedive’ shifts from introspective longing to a danceable, upbeat conclusion, highlighting the band’s unique ability to blend theatricality with disarming, raw honesty.

Of the single, lead-vocalist Emmie-May shares,

“It’s is a song about longing for both comfort and freedom simultaneously in a relationship through the metaphor of being an injured bird needing shelter. We turned it into a danceable upbeat track, which made the tone shift throughout the song as though you find a way to pick yourself up and fly away.”

To celebrate the upcoming release, the band has curated a series of physical editions, including eco-mix black vinyl, a limited-edition berry-coloured LP, and a Rough Trade-exclusive blue and clear splatter pressing that features a rare, exclusive 7″ bonus record. As they gear up for the album’s August launch, Man/Woman/Chainsaw are solidifying their reputation as the premier chroniclers of the “mess and stress” of one’s early twenties, proving that their transition from underground buzz-band to a fully realised, studio-honed powerhouse is well underway.
