Dublin trio Really Good Time have officially entered their next era with the announcement of their debut album, Affirmations, scheduled for release on August 7th. Accompanied by the relentless new single “Do It,” the news follows a massive breakout year for the band, cementing their status as one of the most vital and sharp-edged acts in the current scene.
Their new single, “Do It,” is a masterclass in mechanical tension and motorik precision. Built on driving guitar riffs and a relentless rhythm section, the track mirrors the exhaustion of navigating modern Irish suburbia. Lyrically, the song leans into a grim, sharp-witted humour, tackling the absurdity of the housing crisis and the moving goalposts of adulthood. It is a song designed for the chaos of a live crowd, transforming systemic frustration into a coiled, enormous anthem.
Of the single, the band states,
“‘Do It’ is a song about impossible tasks. It’s about trying to do everything you have been told to do in life, and never achieving what was promised. The goalposts have shifted, no, that isn’t how you do it. Are you angry? Are you ashamed? Go and roll that stone up the hill again.”
The track is further brought to life by a music video directed by Sophie O’Donovan, who previously collaborated with the band on “Bob Dylan Was On Pawn Stars in 2010.” Between the cinematic visuals and the announcement of their August debut, the band is positioning themselves as a dominant force for the summer. With Affirmations on the horizon, Really Good Time is a band staring down the absurdity of the present with total clarity.
