Stockholm independent powerhouse PNKSLM Recordings has announced the signing of Swedish indie-rock quartet Gone Future, alongside the release of their debut label single, “Nightcap.” A formidable new project uniting members from Swedish indie royalty, including Dolores Haze, Mando Diao, and Dead Vibrations, the band arrives fully formed on a track that delivers a heavy, psych-tinged indie-rock assault. The release is accompanied by a massive wave of anticipation from a band whose members already boast a glittering international track record on the European touring circuit.
“Nightcap” hits with immediate force, operating as a swaggering, heavy, and psychedelic maelstrom that captures the frantic energy of a wild night out on the tiles. Given the musicians’ backgrounds in some of Sweden’s most influential modern alternative acts, the single showcases a polished chemistry that usually takes years to develop. It pushes forward with a driving rhythm section and distorted guitar layers, perfectly capturing the push-and-pull of chasing the night just a little too far when you know you shouldn’t.
Of the single, the band describe,
“’Nightcap’ is a messy ode to the almost-mornings. Once in a blue moon the stars align and all of your friends happen to be out at the same hour. You’re running from one bar to the next, every drink pulling you further forward, tying bonds with these random-ass people you’ll only ever remember on that exact night. Somehow these nights only happen when they shouldn’t. You’ve got to be up early to go to your nan’s house or you’re playing a gig the day after. You know you shouldn’t, but it’s just one more!”
The signing is a major coup for tastemaker imprint PNKSLM Recordings, adding a band with a stellar musical pedigree to its roster. Across their respective previous projects, the members of Gone Future have earned international critical acclaim from outlets like The Guardian, The Line of Best Fit, and Stereogum. Having already conquered major stages across the continent, including standout festival sets at End of the Road, Iceland Airwaves, and The Great Escape, the group are poised to make a massive splash with this new chapter.
