Electronic-pop duo Sylvan Esso have made a roaring return with “Hot Slob,” their first single of 2026 and their debut release on their independent label, Psychic Hotline. Moving away from the pristine pop of their past, the track is a fiercely messy, chaotic, and tongue-in-cheek party anthem recorded at their Chapel Hill studio, Betty’s. The song features an expanded roster of collaborators, including multi-instrumentalist Jenn Wasner (Bon Iver, Flock of Dimes) and drummer TJ Maiani (Weyes Blood), adding raw muscle to the band’s signature electronic style.
“Hot Slob” acts as a loud, hair-down invitation to embrace life’s glitches, marking a decidedly more pointed and unpolished direction for Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn. Built around their signature push-and-pull between the cerebral and the instinctual, the track balances an explosive, club-ready stride with heavy, driving percussion and basslines. The track signals a definitive chapter of creative independence for the band, following their decision to move their entire catalogue and operations to their own Psychic Hotline imprint last autumn to ensure complete artistic control.
To bring this expansive new era to life on stage, Sylvan Esso are debuting a brand new, extended live band line-up during a sold-out, week-long residency at Los Angeles’ Sid the Cat Auditorium from June 15th–20th. This intimate run will serve as a rehearsal space for a mammoth 2026 and 2027 North American tour spanning over two dozen cities. The tour will take the newly beefed-up live ensemble to major venues across the continent, including New York’s Brooklyn Paramount, Chicago’s Salt Shed, and LA’s Wiltern, with general ticket sales kicking off this Friday, June 12th.
