New York City five-piece Slow Fiction have officially announced their highly anticipated debut studio album, dollhouse, scheduled for release on August 7th, 2026. Marking the inaugural release for the fresh independent label Tight Knit, the self-produced 11-track record was mixed by Sonny DiPerri (DIIV, Julie). The announcement comes hot on the heels of high-profile Northeast tour dates supporting Wet Leg and Vundabar, and arrives alongside the premiere of their shimmering new single, “satellite,” and its companion skateboarding-focused music video.

“satellite” serves as a dynamic follow-up to their recent single “junior year,” which picked up widespread acclaim from tastemakers like Consequence and Brooklyn Vegan. Sonically, dollhouse filters propulsive indie rock through refracting guitars and cathartic rhythms, exploring the uneasy blur between surveillance and introspection. Julia Vassallo’s lyrics consistently challenge the digital echo chambers of modern life, framing identity as a private world that is somehow always on display. The creative engine behind the album is fueled by the band’s tight-knit, familial bond; born from five years of navigating NYC survival together, three members currently share an apartment while the remaining two live just blocks away.

Of the single, Julia states,

“‘satellite’ is an allegory for collective atrophy in a country that’s poisoned with an Us vs. Them mentality. I was thinking of a person watching something uncomfortable on TV, and then being like ‘oh, that’s too much, I have to turn it off,’ because as a whole we’ve become selective with our empathy. I heard someone say recently that the price of community is occasional inconvenience; we’ve got to start considering community as more than just our own digital echo chambers.”

Fans will have an immediate chance to catch the band live this week. This Friday, June 19th, Slow Fiction will return to the stage to support the final, marquee stop of Vundabar’s Gawk 10-year anniversary tour at Warsaw in Brooklyn, New York, with a broader slate of upcoming tour dates expected to be announced shortly.
