Indie-folk favourites Sadurn have officially announced their highly anticipated sophomore studio album, The Underworld, set for release on October 16th, 2026, via Run For Cover Records. Serving as the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2022 debut Radiator, the upcoming record promises to expand the band’s signature, graceful blend of alt-country, intimate bedroom pop, and raw indie rock. Centred around the heartrendingly honest perspective of songwriter G DeGroot, the album is positioned as a deeply human document of hard-earned catharsis, grounding heavy emotional weight in beautiful, lived-in earthly details.

Of the album, G DeGroot shares,

The underworld is the hard times, but it’s also about getting back. You go into the underworld so you can find clarity about your own being and come back changed. That’s just my fundamental belief about healing, it’s not about wallowing but you do need to move towards the darkness in order to transform it and get unstuck. It’s how you discover your most important powers.

The announcement arrives alongside the release of the album’s stunning lead single, “whole thing.” A sprawling, immersive cut defined by lilting drum rhythms, warm vocal hooks, and sweeping pedal steel, the track builds to a powerful emotional and sonic climax. The single is accompanied by an evocative new music video available now on YouTube. The track serves as the perfect sonic introduction to a record that balances internal darkness with an ultimate, overarching journey toward spiritual and emotional clarity.

While Sadurn originally began as a purely private creative exercise for DeGroot, the unexpected breakout success of Radiator brought a wave of industry pressure that initially stalled the writing process. Amidst internalising the sudden expectations of an audience, DeGroot faced a challenging romantic breakup compounded by sudden chronic pain and vocal issues. The Underworld directly chronicles this period of breakdown and subsequent recovery, tracking a metaphysical return to self. It stands as a testament to moving deliberately through difficult spaces to find transformation on the other side.
