Hi Pigeons! Two absolute queer icons, Mirah and Evan Greer, are hitting the road together this October for an intimate run across the Northeast! They’ve hand-selected all-ages spaces grounded in community-centered DIY punk ethos.
If you grew up clutching a copy of You Think It’s Like This But Really It’s Like This, (Sidenote: I do in fact have a copy on vinyl in my home, you should too!), you already know the profound impact Mirah has had on the DNA of the indie music scene. Her early collaborations with Phil Elverum on The Microphones records and her razor-sharp, devastatingly tender solo catalog helped invent the emotional blueprint that bedroom pop acts are still trying to recreate decades later. Hearing her voice echo in a packed, intimate room is going to be magic. She’s just released her new record titled Dedication, and we are stoked to hear it live!
Evan Greer, has spent years on the frontlines proving that punk rock and direct action are inseparable. When she isn’t actively taking on corporate surveillance as the director of Fight for the Future or writing tech and human rights pieces for outlets like Wired and The Washington Post, she’s tearing down stages with blistering queer folk-punk anthems. From the biting fury of Spotify is Surveillance to AMAB/ACAB (a soundtrack for the revolution that I’m also proud to own on vinyl), Evan brings the kind of raw energy and radical solidarity our scene desperately needs right now.
To make things even more exciting, Sad13 (Sadie Dupuis) is jumping on board for the final two dates: an early Halloween costume party at PhilaMOCA in Philly, and a gig at Strange Birds, an incredible new queer all-ages space out in Scranton. Plus, the Brooklyn date at The P.I.T. is a benefit for the legendary ABC No Rio.
