The Long Awaited Return of Faker on “Nightmare’s Coming Back”

Post-Punk Legend Faker Has Returned to Blow Our Minds on “Nightmare’s Coming Back”

The Australian alt-rock/post-punk fever dream that is Faker has come back to continue smashing through damned-up emotions and experiences of seeing the world (and the riveting fever dreams of being part of it). Both a sample of what’s to come and a shot of pure adrenaline, Faker’s latest release “Nightmare’s Coming Back” is an exciting return ahead of the upcoming album, Enjoy Your Problems (out September 4th).

The post-punk influenced track itself embodies the best part of Faker we remember from the late 90’s into their defining mark on post-punk and indie rock during the 00’s. Faker’s frontman, Nathan Hudson, breaks a fifteen-year hiatus, with vocals that have weathered the path from his beginnings to this very moment. Through stylistic touches similar to that of The Cure‘s Robert Smith, this pleasant and omnipresent reintroduction to Faker is a dive back down to the deep and wholly enveloping space that Nathan Hudson proves to be in the spirit of uninhibited revival and modern reinvention of alternative music.

The track itself is just one of ten prolific tracks oozing with new-wave shimmer and alt-rock bite, and its fangs know Hudson’s wild world of introspection and deeply enthralling observations. These days, he’s opened up about being a queer musician diagnosed with AuDHD, transforming his experiences into something that resonates with audience on a massive scale once again.

Faker’s indelible talent didn’t build up to the deliberating firestorm sound that makes up “Nightmare’s Coming Back.” Their first breakout single, “This Heart Attack” became the most broadcast Australian song of 2008 and reached #5 in triple j’s Hottest 100. They’ve headlined sold-out tours and shared stages with The Black KeysIggy PopThe White StripesArcade Fire and P!nk. No stranger to hard hitters, Faker’s latest proves to have aged like a fine wine in a world that needs to remember the vineyard.

With a host of different artists spanning the last several decades, including some of the very same names that created and defined the alt rock and post-punk genres, it’s imperative to get into the flow of Faker’s latest on “Nightmare’s Coming Back.”
