Manchester indie risers pyncher have announced their new EP, The Eight Legged Band, set for release on November 20th via Heist or Hit. Accompanying the announcement is their wistful new single, “Love You Better,” which features fellow Manchester artist Phoebe Green.

Driven by woozy mellotron lines and boxy percussion, “Love You Better” pivots into a lush, 60s-inspired melodic chorus that grapples with self-doubt and emotional inadequacy. Frontman Sam Blakeley detailed how the collaboration originated and the song’s melancholic narrative:

I met Phoebe when we were both guests at a David Byrne covers night in Manchester. We knew of each other, and we’ve always been fans of her music, but that was the first time we properly hung out. We were the only two who turned up early because we were nervous and wanted to soundcheck. We basically bonded over feeling very uncool.

He continued regarding the track’s lyrical direction:

“The track is about knowing you’re not giving someone what they deserve. I’m trying hard to write a love song but they always end up bleak like this.”

Recorded alongside producer Alex Greaves at The Nave in Leeds, The Eight Legged Band arrives following the band’s previous EP I Really Mean It This Time, a slot at the BBC 6 Music Festival, and European tour dates supporting The Sophs. Positioned at the core of Manchester’s current indie wave alongside peers like Westside Cowboy, TTSSFU, and Martial Arts, pyncher will take their new material on a UK headline tour across October and November.
