Brighton post-rock and folk quartet ladylike have released their intimate new single, “Borrowed Time,” out today via Heist or Hit. Marking their first release since their top-10 folk debut EP It’s A Pleasure Of Mine, to Know You’re Fine, the single arrives ahead of the band’s biggest headline tour to date alongside support dates with Shaking Hand.
Recorded live in a renovated chapel studio in Pembrokeshire, Wales, with producer Balázs Altsach (Ugly, Orchestra (for now)), the track captures an exposed, off-the-cuff performance. Bridging the gap between slowcore dynamics and folk stillness, “Borrowed Time” reflects the band’s cinematic live approach while exploring themes of distance and fading relationships.
Opening up about the personal narrative behind the track, vocalist and guitarist Georgia Butler shared:
This track is loosely about losing contact with someone and how time goes by, your lives are separate and you never quite get back to the same place at the same time.
Following a busy run of sold-out headline shows in London and Brighton, support dates with The Orielles, and festival appearances at Green Man and Left of The Dial, the release solidifies the group’s momentum within the UK alternative scene. “Borrowed Time” is available to stream across all digital platforms now.
