Alt-pop US artist Alas De Liona returns with cinematic, 80s-tinged drama in the shape of new single “Hunter I” – the first taste of her second album Noble Rot, due 30th October.
Dark, ethereal and danceable, ‘Hunter I’ is an up-tempo alt-pop track that uses vampire imagery to explore deeper themes. Its lyrics deal with the alienation and claustrophobia of being unable to communicate your inner turmoil to the people around you, or to speak your truth.
The single is taken from Alas’ upcoming second album Noble Rot which pairs shadowy melodrama with big, irresistible hooks. It marks a transition from the ethereal downtempo sound of her 2024 debut Gravity of Gold to an up-tempo, cinematic drama that draws on indulgent 80s pop and post-punk. With dense lyrics, haunting vocals, heavy vampire symbolism and stunning instrumentals, showcasing an evolution of de Liona’s signature sound
Alas plays a Noble Rot album launch and Halloween party on 29th October at People’s Leisure Club, Edinburgh.
