The Guzzlers Chase Lost Love Across Ireland on “Killarney”

Killarney is a town in southwestern Ireland, and it is also the name of The Guzzlers’ new song, which I cannot stop playing. If you love Irish folk music with an edge, stop what you are doing and press play. The story grabs a hold of you right away: a man whose relationship is on the rocks charges all over Ireland on a great quest to find the love who left or disappeared, crying out “I’m looking for the one that got away.” Acoustic guitars storm through the chords and riffs, tambourines shake everything loose, and that banjo lead riff is so contagious I catch myself humming it long after the song ends. When the band sings in unison, the heart and impact hit even harder, and the chorus makes you want to drunkenly shout along at the top of your lungs with a bunch of friends at the bar. This is a traveling song, a drinking song, and an anthem that belongs in Irish bars across the world. “Killarney” sticks with me, and I have a feeling it will stick with you too.
