Forever Factory Is Anything But on “Never Boring”

Canadian artist Forever Factory wastes no time making an impression, opening “Never Boring” with a distorted, experimental beat that immediately signals you are in completely uncharmed territory. It is cool, it is strange, and it is, well, never boring. From a distance, Forever Factory’s voice drifts in, speaking openly about not wanting to go to the party, about preferring to stay home instead, and suddenly the song becomes something deeply relatable. The spoken word vocals ride over the experimental production with a loose and candid energy, touching on hanging out with the characters in his head, playing piano late into the night, and cycling through the same patterns over and over again. What makes it so compelling is that he doesn’t seem particularly troubled by any of it. There is a contentment in his voice, an acceptance of his own rhythms and quirks that feels honest and oddly comforting. The music stays gloriously weird and inventive from start to finish, shifting and surprising you at every turn. Forever Factory has carved out a sound that is entirely their own and “Never Boring” lives up to its name in every possible way.
