Seminal California punk outfit Ceremony have announced their seventh studio album, Tell Me Your Dream, slated for release on August 7th via Relapse Records. The announcement arrives alongside the premiere of their anthemic post-punk lead single, “Death Destruction Mayhem,” and its companion music video. Marking 21 years together, the album reunites the legendary quintet with longtime producer John Reis. Following a pair of high-energy weekend sets at Coachella earlier this year, the band has also mapped out a comprehensive North American autumn tour kicking off this September.
Tell Me Your Dream features ten tracks that showcase Ceremony’s standing as one of alternative music’s most fluid and uncompromising chameleons, dynamically merging blistering hardcore fury with expansive post-punk melodies. Frontman Ross Farrar describes the album’s core ethos as a desperate reach for genuine human connection and inspiration in an increasingly transactional society. This emotional depth is brought to life by producer John Reis, who previously helmed their acclaimed 2015 release, The L-Shaped Man. For this record, the band fully handed over the creative reins to Reis, effectively treating him as an honorary member of the lineup, a vulnerability born directly from a lifelong childhood friendship between Farrar and guitarist Anthony Anzaldo.
Ross states,
“Tell me your dream in a time when intimacy and vulnerability seem neglected. Tell me your dream when reciprocity has become a contract. Tell me your dream when they ask, ‘What do you do?’ Something untrained by the mind that sparks inspiration.”
To support the release, Ceremony will hit the road for a sprawling North American headlining tour through the autumn. Launching on September 9th in Montreal, the trek will see the band bring their fiercely unpredictable live show to major markets across the continent, including scheduled stops in Chicago, New York, Austin, and Los Angeles.
